Inherited from Proto-Dravidian *kaṭ-. Cognate with Kannada ಕಟ್ಟು (kaṭṭu), Malayalam കെട്ടുക (keṭṭuka), Telugu కట్టు (kaṭṭu) and Tulu ಕಟ್ಟುನಿ (kaṭṭuni).
