Etymology 1

    Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘎𑘰𑘭𑘜𑘹 (kāsaṇe),[1] from Prakrit 𑀓𑀸𑀲𑀇 (kāsaï), from Sanskrit कर्ष॑ति (kárṣati).[2]

        After not tilling their land for 7 years, the struggle put forth by the farmers was successful. The benefits of this were made available to farmers across the state. Later, after independence, the policy of कसेल त्याची जमीन (kasel tyācī j̈amīn, [The one who] will cultivate his land [owns it.]) was implemented everywhere.
