Etymology
From earlier रुध् (rudh),[1] from Proto-Indo-European *h₁lewdʰ- (“to grow”).[2] The phonetic change of -ध् (-dh) to -ह् (-h) is probably to avoid homonymy with रुध् (rudh, “to obstruct”).
