Bình Tây is a new ward of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam It is one of 168 new wards, communes and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City after the arrangement in 2025.[1][2]
Geography
Bình Tây ward is 7 kilometers away from Saigon ward, it has the following geographical locationː
- The north borders Minh Phụng ward
- The east borders Chợ Lớn ward
- The south borders Bình Tiên ward
- The west borders Bình Phú ward and Phú Lâm ward
According to Official Dispatch No. 2896/BNV-CQDP dated May 27, 2025 of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bình Tây after the arrangement has an area of 1.05 km2 and the population as of December 31, 2024 is 63293 people, population density reaches 60279 people/km2 (Article 6 of Resolution No. 76/2025/UBTVQH15 dated April 14, 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee).[3]
History
On June 16, 2025, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 (effective from June 16, 2025).[4]Accordingly, the entire natural area and population size of Wards 2 and 9 (old District 6) will be arranged into Bình Tây (Clause 14, Article 1).[5]
