An Khánh is a new ward in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is one of 168 new wards, communes and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City after the 2025 arrangement.[1][2]
On June 16, 2025, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued a resolution on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Ho Chi Minh City in 2025. Accordingly, the entire natural area and population size of Thủ Thiêm, An Lợi Đông, Thảo Điền, and An Khánh wards, along with part of the natural area and population size of An Phú Ward, are reorganized to form a new ward named An Khánh.[3]
Geography
An Khánh is located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, it has the following geographical locationː
- To the east, it borders Bình Trưng
- To the west, it borders Saigon ward and Thạnh Mỹ Tây, with the border being the Saigon River.
- To the south, it borders Xóm Chiếu and Tân Thuận, with the border being the Saigon River.
- To the north, it borders Bình Qưới with the border being the Saigon River, and Thủ Đức with the border being Rạch Chiếc River
According to Official Dispatch No. 2896/BNV-CQDP dated May 27, 2025 of the Ministry of Home Affairs, An Khánh after the arrangement has an area of 15.33 km², population as of December 31, 2024 is 76,967 people, population density reaches 5,020 people/km² (statistical data as of December 31, 2024 according to regulations in Article 6 of Resolution No. 76/2025/UBTVQH15 dated April 14, 2025 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly).[4]
