Inherited from Medieval Tashelhit تَمَنْجُشْت (tamanžušt, “autumn”), from earlier *tamanzuyt, the active participle of *n-z-y (“to be early”).
Cognate with Zenaga amanžäh (“morning rain”), Central Atlas Tamazight amenzu (“hasty”), and Ghadames amǝnzu (“start”).
