Possibly borrowed from Tamil மாப்பிள்ளை (māppiḷḷai)[1], which is a compound of Tamil மா (mā) + Tamil பிள்ளை (piḷḷai), or borrowed from Tamil compound of Tamil முறை (muṟai) + Tamil பிள்ளை (piḷḷai).[1]
