Cognate with Brahui پَلْہئِنْگْ (paḻẖing, to be boiling, on the boil, stewed; boil with rage), Old Kannada ಪುೞ್ಗು (puḻgu, to burn), Kumarbhag Paharia पुग्̣ऎ (púg̣e, to boil), Malayalam പുഴുങ്ങുക (puḻuṅṅuka, to be boiling, stewed, steamed; parboil), Tulu ಪುರ್ಗುನಿ (purguni).[1]
