Etymology

    From Proto-Indo-Aryan *tap-, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *tap-, from Proto-Indo-European *tep- (to be warm). Cognate with Proto-Slavic *teplъ (warm), Latin tepeō whence English tepid.[1][2][3]
