From Proto-Athabaskan *-ɬ. Cognate with Navajo ł-, Ahtna ł-, Dena'ina ł-, and so on. Related also to Lower Tanana (with) and the instrumental noun suffix .

  1. One of four "classifier" valency prefixes mandatory on all Lower Tanana verbs. The ɬ-classifier has the following uses:
  1. Appears in many transitive verbs
  2. Forms causative verbs
  3. Appears thematicized in some intransitive verbs
  4. With de- and gh-, forms comparatives of dimensional verbs.
