The 2026 Rose Bowl is a college football bowl game that is scheduled to be played on January 1, 2026, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The 112th annual Rose Bowl game will be one of the playoff quarterfinals and will feature the ninth-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide of the Southeastern Conference and the first-ranked Indiana Hoosiers of the Big Ten Conference. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. PST. The Rose Bowl will be one of the 2025–26 bowl games concluding the 2025 FBS football season and the winner will advance to the college football playoff semifinals.[1][2] Sponsored by the Prudential financial services company, the game is officially known as the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the 2026 Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential.

The start time of the 2026 game is one hour earlier than the traditional time, in a change expected to carry forward to future Rose Bowl games.[3]

Background

The 2026 Rose Bowl will be a quarterfinal game for the 2025–26 College Football Playoff (CFP). Indiana, being the top-ranked team in the final CFP rankings and winner of the Big Ten Championship Game, received a bye in the playoff format and was selected to play in the bowl game.[4][5]

Ninth-ranked Alabama, the number ninth seed in the tournament, defeated Oklahoma in the first round, 34–24, to advance to this game.[6]

This will be the first ever meeting between Alabama and Indiana.[7]

With a win, the winning team will advance to the CFP semifinals, facing the winner of the Orange Bowl, in the Peach Bowl.

Their last appearance came in the 2024 in an overtime loss to the eventual National Champion Michigan.
