A presidential election was held in Indiana on November 2, 1948, as part of the 1948 United States presidential election. The Republican ticket of the governor of New York Thomas E. Dewey and the governor of California Earl Warren defeated the Democratic ticket of the incumbent president of the United States Harry S. Truman and the senior U.S. senator from Kentucky Alben W. Barkley. Truman defeated Dewey in the national election with 303 electoral votes.[2]
