Čakanovce, Košice-okolie District

Čakanovce (Hungarian: Ósvacsákány) is a village and municipality in Košice-okolie District in the Košice Region of eastern Slovakia.

In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1439.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 271 metres (889 ft)^[3] and covers an area of 9.61 km² (3.71 sq mi) (2024).^[4]

It has a population of 761 people (31 December 2024).^[6]

In year 2021 was 688 people by ethnicity 644 as Slovak, 175 as Romani, 123 as Not found out, 5 as Czech, 3 as Rusyn, 3 as Hungarian and 3 as Other.

One of the Thirteen Martyrs of Arad, Arisztid Dessewffy was born here.
