Perhaps from Proto-Albanian *gnāska, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵn̥h₃sḱéti, from *ǵneh₃- (compare English know, Serbo-Croatian znati, Latin (g)nōscō). According to Oryol, the full-grade was drawn from the aorist.[1]
