Etymology

    Inherited from Proto-Balto-Slavic *gurnas, a substantivized nominal from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰr̥-nó-s (warm), from *gʷʰer- (to heat). Cognate with Latin furnus (oven), Sanskrit घृण (ghṛṇá, heat).[1]
