Reconstruction is uncertain. Possibly an extension of *ḱew- (“to shine”) alongside *ḱew-dʰ-, whence Sanskrit शुध् (śudh, “to purify”), and *ḱew-k-, whence Sanskrit शुच् (śuc, “to shine”).[2]
