Etymology
Part of the Indo-Aryan "defective" group of words. Related to other "lump" terms like *𑀠𑀺𑀘𑁆𑀘 (*ḍhicca), *𑀠𑁂𑀲 (*ḍhesa), *𑀠𑁂𑀟𑁆𑀠 (*ḍhĕḍḍha), *𑀠𑀧𑁆𑀧 (*ḍhappa), *𑀠𑀻𑀫𑁆𑀫 (*ḍhīmma), *𑀠𑁂𑀭 (*ḍhera), *𑀟𑀺𑀧𑁆𑀧 (*ḍippa), 𑀟𑀮 (ḍala, “lump”), *𑀤𑀺𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*dikka), 𑀠𑀺𑀮𑁆𑀮 (ḍhilla).
