Etymology

From 連れ (tsure, “taking”, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb 連れる (tsureru, “take (someone) with one, bring along, go with, be accompanied by”)) +‎ 添う (sou, “accompany, go along with”).
