     In various descriptions, "county-town socialites" are portrayed as a group of people who live affluent lives, have few jobs, marry and have children early, and receive financial support from their parents or husbands' families. These "socialites" practice yoga, drink coffee, and get beauty treatments; their lifestyle is comparable to that of people in big cities. Many urban white-collar workers say that burdened with mortgages and facing daily pressures of overtime and layoffs, the contrast with their hometown reunions has left them feeling very disillusioned.
