  皇(こう)海(がい)が何(なに)かの原(げん)因(いん)でスカイと誤(ご)読(どく)されてそのまま通(つう)用(よう)するようになったものであろう。皇は「すめ、すめら」と読(よ)むから皇(こう)海(がい)をスカイと誤(ご)読(どく)することは有(あ)り得(え)よう。
  Kōgai ga nanika no gen'in de Sukai to godoku sarete sonomama tsūyō suru yō ni natta mono de arō.皇 Wa “sume, sumera” to yomu kara Kōgai o Sukai to godoku suru koto wa arieyō.
  This is probably because Kōgai was mispronounced as Sukai for some reason and it turned into common use as it is. 皇 is pronounced as sume or sumera, so it is probable to mispronounce Kōgai as Sukai.
