Etymology
Learned borrowing from Sanskrit धर्मपुत्र (dharmaputra, “son adopted out of a sense of duty”),[1] from धर्म (dharma, “dharma”) + पुत्र (putra, “son”). By surface analysis, ธรรม (tam) + บุตร (bùt). See also บุญธรรม (bun-tam).
