തൂങ്ങുക • (tūṅṅuka)

In spoken Malayalam, the simple past form തൂങ്ങി (tūṅṅi) is often used as a shorthand for committing suicide by many people. However, in both formal writing and careful speech, the compound verb തൂങ്ങിമരിക്കുക (tūṅṅimarikkuka — "to hang and die") is more common to specify the act of suicide.
