Usage notes

Originally a verbal adjective from περιχρῑ́ω (perikhrī́ō), περίχρῑστος (períkhrīstos) is fully lexicalized in medical Greek as a noun meaning “ointment”. Other genders (feminine and neuter) are also attested in later medical sources.
