This express train was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing from the Ganges metropolitan city of Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi on November 08 2025. [3][4][5]

This train is currently operated by Indian Railways, connecting Firozpur Cantt., Faridkot, Bathinda Jn,Barnala Jn, Dhuri Jn, Patiala, Ambala Cantonment Jn, Kurukshetra Jn, Panipat Jn and Old Delhi Jn. It is currently operated with train numbers 26462/26461 on 6 days a week basis. [6][7][8]

It is the seventy-third 2nd Generation Mini Vande Bharat 2.0 Express train which was designed and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory at Perambur, Chennai under the Make in India Initiative.[9]
