Background and conception
Released three months after Les chemins de ma maison, Chants et contes de Noël is an album dedicated to children and the magic of the holidays.[1] The cover shows Dion surrounded by her nephews and nieces.[1] On the album, Dion reads three children's stories ("Pourquoi je crois encore au Père Noël", "Céline et Pinotte", and "Le conte de Karine") and sings three classic Christmas songs ("Promenade en traîneau", "Joyeux Noël", and "Glory Alleluia", all originally released on Céline Dion chante Noël in 1981).[2] Two other tracks on the album are "Un enfant" by Jacques Brel and the pop song "À quatre pas d'ici", a French version of the British hit "The Land of Make Believe" by the band Bucks Fizz.[3]
