5. Dáil
Der 5. Dáil wurde am 9. Juni 1927 gewählt. Insgesamt 153 Abgeordnete (Teachtaí Dála) wurden in 30 Wahlkreisen mit dem Verfahren der übertragbaren Einzelstimmgebung (single transferable vote) bestimmt.
Wahlausgang
Die Cumann na nGaedhael und die Fianna Fáil waren die stärksten Kräfte im Dáil. Die Cumann na nGaedheal bildete mit 47 Sitzen eine Minderheitsregierung.
Der Dáil Éireann kam erstmals am 23. Juni 1927 zur konstituierenden Sitzung zusammen. Als Vorsitzender des Dáils (Ceann Comhairle) wurde Michael Hayes (Cumann na nGaedheal) per Akklamation bestimmt. Seine Vertretung (Leas-Cheann Comhairle) wurde James Dolan (Cumann na nGaedheal). William T. Cosgrave wurde zum Präsidenten des Exekutivrats gewählt. Er bildete die Regierung W. T. Cosgrave IV. Oppositionsführer (Ceannaire an Fhreasúra) wurde Éamon de Valera von der Fianna Fáil.
Es folgten die Neuwahlen am 15. September 1927.
