Etymology
From either Proto-Philippine *tiŋəʀ (cf. Central Bikol tingog, Cebuano tingog, Waray-Waray tingog, and Tausug tingug) or Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *tənəʀ (“sound, voice”) (cf. Cebuano tunog (“resonant, audible”) and Malagasy teni (“word, speech”)). See also tunog.
