From Proto-Tai *ɓoːnᴮ (“place; site”).[1] Cognate with Bouyei mboons (“bed”), Lao ບ່ອນ (bǭn, “place; sleeping place; bed”), Thai บ่อน (bɔ̀n, “place; den”).
