The popular ⴰⵎⵓⵔ ⵏ ⴰⴽⵓⵛ (literally “Land of God”) is likely a mere Folk etymology, as neither amur (“land”) nor akuc (“God”) (with the latter being exclusive to Zenatic) are attested in Zenaga or Tashelhit.
