Etymology

    Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀔𑁄𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀢𑀺 (*khojjati, to seek),[1] denominal verb from *𑀔𑁄𑀚𑁆𑀚 (*khojja, footprint), possibly from Sanskrit क्षोद्य (kṣodya, (that which is) to be trampled or stepped upon), from क्षुद् (kṣud, crush) + -य (-ya). Cognate with Palula khooǰóo.
