Cognate with Zenaga iʔf (“head, extremity”), Ghadames ēɣăf (“head”), Tuareg éɣăf (“head”); Proto-Semitic *ḳapa(y) (“occiput”), whence Arabic قَفًا (qafan, “occiput”); and Proto-Chadic, whence Migaama kúpó (“occiput”).
