    From Proto-Norse ᚺᛡᛒᛟᚱᚢᛗᛦ (hᴀborumʀ /⁠haβᵒrumʀ⁠/) (dative plural), from Proto-Germanic *hafraz, from Proto-Indo-European *kapro-. Cognate with Old English hæfer, Latin caper.
