Inherited from Ottoman Turkish حسن نیت (hüsn-i niyet), from Classical Persian حُسْنِ نِیَّت (husn-i niyyat), from Arabic حُسْن (ḥusn, “beauty, fairness”) and نِيَّة (niyya, “intention, purpose”). By surface analysis, hüsn (“beauty”) +‎ -i (ezafe suffix) +‎ niyet (“intention, aim”).
