From Old Albanian djathë (“right side”), from Proto-Albanian *detsa, from pre-Albanian *deḱsi̯o, from Proto-Indo-European *deḱs- (compare Ancient Greek δεξιός (dexiós),Old High German zeso, Middle Dutch tesuwe, Irish deas).
