Reconstruction:Proto-Indo-Iranian/Hánćas
Proto-Indo-Iranian
Etymology
Possibly from a Proto-Indo-European *h₁ónḱos (“piece, mass”), which may be a Schwebeablaut derivative of *h₁neḱ- (“to carry, take away”) or *h₂neḱ- (“to reach”) (though such a Schwebeablaut would be rather strange). Cognate with Ancient Greek ὄγκος (ónkos, “mass”).[1]
Noun
*Hánćas m
