- -er. Forms the comparative of certain adjectives.
Usage notes
This was the normal comparative suffix for all i-, u- and ja-stem adjectives. The regular a-stem adjectives sometimes used this suffix, and sometimes the related suffix *-ōzô without any predictable rule.
