Prakrit

Etymology

Probably inherited from Sanskrit प्रचष्टे (pracaṣṭe, to tell; consider), undergoing thematisation (compare प्रचक्षते (pracakṣate, 3pl.pres)) and the same unexpected lenition as in 𑀘𑀸𑀳𑀇 (cāhaï). By surface analysis, 𑀧- (pa-) +‎ 𑀘𑀸𑀳𑀇 (cāhaï, to want).

    Verb

    *𑀧𑀘𑀸𑀳𑀇 (*pacāhaï) (Devanagari *पचाहइ) (Proto-New Indo-Aryan)[1]
