Uncertain. Of uncertain connection to 𑀑𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀅 (ŏcchaa, “covered”), from Sanskrit 𑀅𑀯𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀤 m (avacchada, “covering”), whence Romani ućhal (“shade”) and Hindi उछार (uchār, “covering, curtain”).
