Borrowed from Old Spanish çenoria, borrowed from Andalusian Arabic *سَفُنَّارْيَة (*safunnārya), from Arabic إِسْفَنَارِيَّة (ʔisfanāriyya), borrowed from Ancient Greek σταφυλίνη (staphulínē, “carrot”) or ἀγρία (agría, “wild”).
