    Sino-Vietnamese word from 南斯, contracted from Mandarin 南斯拉夫 (Nán Sīlāfū, Nam Tư Lạp Phu, literally Southern Slav). Compare Serbo-Croatian Jugòslāvija (literally land of the Southern Slavs).
