Etymology

Blend of Bangladesh +‎ Malaysia, reversed counterpart of Malaydesh. First coined by 2015 Malaysian film Banglasia. Although the derogatory use has been originated from Malaysia itself since the film's inception,[1] such use remained largely unknown in Indonesia, until it was later popularized by various anti-Malaysian groups in late 2023 due to a recent surge of Bangladeshi immigrants in Malaysia.
