Suffix

-அ • (-a)

  1. used to form the infinitive.
    Synonym: (verb classes 6 and 7) -க்க (-kka)
    ஓடு (ōṭu, run) + ‎-அ (-a) → ‎ஓட (ōṭa, to run)
  2. used to form the past adjectival participle by appending to the adverbial participle.
    வந்து (vantu, having come) + ‎-அ (-a) → ‎வந்த (vanta, which came)
  3. an optative ending.
    Synonym: -க (-ka)
    ஓங்கு (ōṅku) + ‎-அ (-a) → ‎ஓங்க (ōṅka)
