Etymology

From ἐν- (en-) +‎ *ἄργος (*árgos, brightness) +‎ -ής (-ḗs). *ἄργος (*árgos) is the neuter σ-stem abstract noun formed to the root of ἀργός (argós, shining), from older *ἀργρός (*argrós).
