കൊയ്യുക • (koyyuka) (past കൊയ്തു (koytu))

1. to reap, harvest, cut
   • Specifically used for cutting grain or crops with a sickle.

   കർഷകർ പാടത്ത് നെല്ല് കൊയ്യുന്നു.

   kaṟṣakaṟ pāṭattŭ nellŭ koyyunnu.

   Farmers are reaping paddy in the field.

2. (figurative) to gain or achieve.

   അവൻ മത്സരത്തിൽ വിജയം കൊയ്തു.

   avaṉ matsarattil vijayaṁ koytu.

   He reaped (achieved) victory in the competition.

3. (figurative) to sever; to cut off (specifically heads).

   അവർ തലകൾ കൊയ്യാനും മടിക്കാത്തവരാണ്.

   avaṟ talakaḷ koyyānuṁ maṭikkāttavarāṇŭ.

   they are people who do not hesitate even to sever heads.
