Inherited from Prakrit सोहा (sohā), from Sanskrit शोभा (śobhā), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ḱowbʰéh₂, from *ḱewbʰ- (“to be beautiful”). Doublet of शोभा (śobhā). Related to सोहर (sohar), सोहना (sohnā, “to befit”), सोहन (sohan), सोहा (sohā, “handsome”), सुहाना (suhānā), सुभाना (subhānā), सूहा (sūhā), सोहला (sohlā).
