Inherited from Prakrit सोहा (sohā), from Sanskrit शोभा (śobhā), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ḱowbʰéh₂, from *ḱewbʰ- (to be beautiful). Doublet of शोभा (śobhā). Related to सोहर (sohar), सोहना (sohnā, to befit), सोहन (sohan), सोहा (sohā, handsome), सुहाना (suhānā), सुभाना (subhānā), सूहा (sūhā), सोहला (sohlā).
