Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Iranian *saptátʰas, from Proto-Indo-European *septm̥-th₂ó-s (“seventh”), from *septḿ̥ (“seven”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬵𐬀𐬞𐬙𐬀𐬚𐬀 (haptaθa), Lithuanian septiñtas, Proto-Germanic *sebundô (whence English seventh).
