Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Iranian *wíyutas (“separate; kept off”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬬𐬌𐬌𐬏𐬙𐬀 (viiūta). By surface analysis, वि- (vi-) + युत (yuta); see there for more.

- समत्र गावोऽभितोऽनवन्तेहेह वत्सैर्वियुता यदासन् ।
सं ता इन्द्रो असृजदस्य शाकैर्यदीं सोमासः सुषुता अमन्दन् ॥- samatra gāvoʼbhitoʼnavanteheha vatsairviyutā yadāsan.
saṃ tā indro asṛjadasya śākairyadīṃ somāsaḥ suṣutā amandan. - Separated from their calves the Cows went lowing around, on every side, hither and thither.
Indra re-united them with his helpers, when the well-pressed Soma made him joyful.
