Etymology
A marginally attested term of uncertain origin, not mentioned in etymological dictionaries. Monier-Williams opines that the term is related to अश्रु (áśru, “tear”).[1] Perhaps the word is a blend of अश्रु (áśru) with मुख॑ (múkha, “mouth, face”) or श्मश्रु (śmáśru, “beard, moustache”).
