Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰru-tí-š, from *dʰrew-, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰrew- (to deceive, mislead).[1][2] Cognate with Parthian [Term?] (/dr'w/, to seduce, delude), Latin fraus.

Cheung separates this from the root ध्वृ (dhvṛ, to injure) and instead posits a root *धृव् (*dhṛv) for this term along with धूर्त॑ (dhū́rta, cunning).
