Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *tráyas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *tráyas, from Proto-Indo-European *tréyes.[1] Cognate with Latin trēs, Ancient Greek τρεῖς (treîs), Old English þrēo (whence English three).
